Frequently asked questions
Is a dental cleaning the same as whitening?
No. Professional cleaning removes plaque, tartar and some surface stains as clinically appropriate. Whitening aims to lighten natural tooth colour; it requires a separate suitability discussion.
Can I get cleaning and whitening in one visit?
It depends on your oral health, the treatment plan and what the dentist finds at an assessment. Ask the clinic what sequence and timing would suit you.
Will whitening work on fillings or crowns?
Whitening usually does not change the shade of fillings, crowns or veneers. Your dentist can check whether existing restorations will affect the appearance of the result.
Will whitening make my teeth sensitive?
Temporary sensitivity can happen. The dentist can check your teeth and gums and discuss options or reasons to postpone whitening.
Is smile brightening suitable for everyone?
No. Existing cavities, gum concerns, restorations and individual sensitivity can affect the plan. An examination helps determine which options are suitable.
General information only. A clinical assessment is needed to advise on suitability, risks and a personal plan.
